First Orientation Lesson
First Orientation Lesson
Get a one on one intro to our riding lessons with our head instructor. Required for all new students
Service Description
Very limited availability. Due to the nature of our program and our growing client list, we want your first experience to be built around your introduction to the farm and getting a sense of your experience and comfort. Hannah has been teaching for 17 years and has a large background in trauma informed teaching and those with differing needs, like level 1 ASD and ADHD, as she herself has both. We are not a therapeutic lesson program but an adaptive one and non traditional in our teaching. Time *includes* grooming and tacking up unless skilled enough to be invited to come early. A private lesson is 60 minutes of hands-on time with the head instructor, working on a combo of life skills, fitness, and horsemanship. Grooming and Safety is #1 focus of this lesson, riding will be limited. You will ride, but most of your first lesson will be grooming and proper safety discussion, horse body language and a tour if you did not take one yet. In our orientation rides, typically students are on the horse for 15-30 minutes max this first ride. We do not need to start on the horse if you don't feel comfortable, we can extend ground work. More time is spent on riding as student progresses. Private lessons can involve other riders if needed, but charge is per rider per session. Private riding lesson means 100% of the instruction is for a single student, but doesn't guarantee sole use of facilities, as occasionally we do have boarders and lessors riding. Please be aware we do require a 2 week quit notice before billing cancels (we will cancel your payment due on the 1st if you let us know by the 15th of prior month, otherwise next month is due, if you let us know by the due date that you would like to stop before the next month is over we can prorate your bill to the biweekly rate, we cannot do refunds due to missed lessons or quitting sooner than planned. We offer 8 week sessions to lessen commitment or by the day lesson charges if you don't agree to monthly auto charges.
Cancellation Policy
Starting September 1, 2025 card is required on file due to immense amount of late reschedules and cancellations. You will not be charged unless you don't show without communication. 1. Check Your Email (Including Spam!!): Bring your completed forms to your first lesson, a liability form must be brought to interact with the horses at all. Without your forms being signed and your agreement, you cannot ride. You will not be riding during a tour or handling horses at all. That will happen during your orientation lesson. A tour is not a requirement but is encouraged, as the time will be taken out of your first lesson if you haven't toured, to give you one. 2. Tours Are Non-Riding: Riding begins at your first lesson, not during the free tour. 3. No-Call, No-Show Policy: Failing to show up for a tour without notice may result in losing future scheduling privileges. We have a waitlist and aim to accommodate as best we can. We also do reach out to fellow instructors when we receive no call no shows without a good reason. 4. Missed Tours: If you skip the tour, it will be covered during your required Orientation Ride, which must be paid at booking. We do not accept students without an orientation ride one on one. We DO have a group lessons, but we do not take someone's word for their ability to control a horse in a group setting so we must see the student ride. It is a free tour, but starting 9/1/2025 there is a $10 cancellation fee at 4 hour mark before your appointment, and $20 if you schedule the hour before. If you chose to return and show up for a scheduled lesson the money can be put towards your 8 week session or monthly plan for the first invoice. 5. Rescheduling: We’re flexible! If you can’t make it, just let us know so we can reschedule. This is the service we are lenient on, but still give us notice or tell us as soon as you can. Thank you for your cooperation!
